Welcome!

Thanks for visiting our site. Here's what what's been happening lately or is coming up.

  • Darcie took a trip to Malaysia for 2 weeks to scope out further ministry opportunities
  • Gary has been given the chance to install all new servers for the YWAM Base. He'll be enjoying this, as he hopefully makes the system more convenient for everyone's ministries.
  • Darcie spent 2 weeks doing staff training with new staff from 4 different YWAM Bases. I'll then spend another two weeks in September doing the same thing.
  • YWAM Brisbane hosted a human trafficking awareness conference.
  • Gary will be heading to Sydney for the training of new recruits to Rescue Net in August.
  • YWAM Brisbane has been undergoing plenty of renovations and restorations in the last few months. We've got a house which has two separate house areas, upstairs and downstairs. It's now livable and is a huge provision to the YWAM Base for our accommodation needs. Just a few more things to get done on that. We're renovating the bathrooms in our building block after some water damage. And we're painting and putting in new flooring in some of the rooms in the same building, trying provide for nice spaces for our staff. Eventually we'll get walls painted and new flooring in the whole building.
  • Our teams are currently overseas in South Africa, India, Malaysia, Southeast Asia and Russia, working with various ministries, sharing the gospel and showing Jesus' love where ever they go. They'll be back next week.
  • In September another YWAM Brisbane team will be establishing themselves in a new location in Southeast Asia. They'll be working with the "sea tribes" in that region. We're so excited to see new works being established, especially in this closed nation. As well, later in the year or early next year we'll be seeing a work start in Peru as well!
  • Gary is planning to study to get his Australian citizenship in the next month or so. Aussie, Aussie Aussie! Oi, Oi, Oi!

A Bit of Fun

Darcie was in a couple of short films produced by our Digital Filmmaking school. This is a short course which trains young people in the art of filmmaking while developing their character and relationship with God in order to be directed by Him in their future. As part of their assignments they actually create a number of fun, short films.

“The Scholarship” Darcie had 1 speaking line in :-)

Well, don’t expect a star performance by me at all... but it’s a bit of fun. If the hyperlink doesn’t work go to www.youtube.com and search for SDFOZ and you’ll see all the short films they’ve done. My favourites are "Super Sweetness",  “Aerodynamic Haircut”, The Cleaner” and “Moving On”. On that note, the one called “The Film Company” came 9th place in the Brisbane 48 hour film festival for 2008!

The power of our testimony

Acts 22:6-8

People can dispute what we believe, but they can’t easily deny our firsthand declaration of what Jesus Christ has done for us. Our testimony carries enormous power in bringing others to Jesus and in opening a way for us to speak to those who initially oppose us. Paul recognized this. So, rather than preaching to a hostile crowd about Jesus, he shared his testimony.

Another person whose declaration has won scores of people to Jesus Christ is Gulshan Esther, a former Muslim (see article on “World Religions and Cults,” page 1354). When she accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord, her family and neighbors opposed her faith, but they couldn’t deny the miracle they saw in her. Her book, The Torn Veil, tells how she was left lame by a childhood illness. Then, in bitter grief over her father’s death, she asked God for death too. The gentle voice that answered was Jesus, who healed her crippled legs and transformed her life with his love.

Our experiences demonstrate that our God and his responsiveness to us are both real. They affirm that what we say about Jesus is true.

What examples can you share of how God has demonstrated his care and concern for you?

Dig deeper: Phil. 3:5; 1 Tim. 1:12-16; 1 John 1:1-3.
